Halloween Treats

Halloween is apon us yet again with all the fun costumes for kids and adults. I actually love this time of year, the spooky feeling of the day. I have always been a big fan and love to dress up and carve pumpkins.

This year I have to become inventive since I have less than 3 weeks before my next competition and do not want to sabotage myself. Not sure what I will do yet, but I will figure something out!

I wanted to post calories of our favorite candies and treats. These are so easy to eat since they are bite size, and usually most people do not realize how much they have eaten until there is a pile of empty Halloween candy wrappers on their table. These sweet treats still can pack on the pounds bite after bite with all the sugar and saturated fats.

Here are some examples I found on the internet:


Nestle’s Crunch – Fun Size 3 bars=210 calories

Peanut M&M’s – Fun Pack 2 bags=80 calories

M&M’s – Fun Pack 2 bags=180 calories

Snicker’s – Fun Size 2 bars=160 calories

Kit Kat – Fun Size 2 bars=100 calories

Hershey Chocolate Bar – Fun Size 1 bar=90 calories/ 5grams of fat

Reese’s Cup – 1 cup=80 calories
Butterfinger – Fun Size 1 bar= 100 calories

Twix – Fun Size 1 bar= 80 calories

York Peppermint Pattie – 1 pattie=70 calories

Twizzlers – 1 treat size pkg= 45 calories

Almond Joy – 1 snack size bar = 90 calories

Milk Duds – 1 treat size box = 40 calories

Milky Way – 1 snack size bar = 90 calories

SweetTarts – 1 treat size pkg. = 50 calories

1 Tootsie Pop – 1 pop = 60 calories

1 Tootsie Roll – 1 small roll = 13 calories

Some may be shocking thinking about how many calories are just in 2 small packages, but some may not be a big deal when looking at the calories. Like I said, who stops at 1 or 2?

Here are a few things to try this Halloween:

1. Only buy candy that you do not like to not be tempted to eat
2. Eat before going to a party
3. Think about your goals and push past temptation
4. Keep your hands busy at a party; water in one hand, plate of veggies and fruit in other hand
5. Just stay away from the candy all together!

If you are a person who can not stop at 1 or 2 treats, just do not bother at all and stay away! The last thing you want to do is eat 500 calories of Peanut M&M's, not only will you regret it and feel bad, your stomach might regret it later if you know what I mean.....
