I must admit I have not been very active on my blog or social media these days. The reason why is because I have had a huge personal life change and haven't had the heart or the energy to write and do the things I love.
I wanted to post something different today. I want to talk about love.
What is love
What is love? Love can mean a million different things. You can love your significant other, you can love your sister, your brother, your best friend. Love can be amazing.
Love is as critical for your mind and body as oxygen. It's not negotiable. The more connected you are, the healthier you will be both physically and emotionally. The less connected you are, the more you are at risk for depression, self-anger and making poor decisions.
Love is the best antidepressant out there, and a lot of us feel depressed because we don't feel love or don't love ourselves.
Choosing to love someone is actually the most beautiful thing about love. Real love is an unconditional commitment to an imperfect person.
When all the butterflies have fluttered away, you will realize you are with someone who is just as imperfect as you. They will come to learn about your insecurities, struggles, quirks and problems, and realize you are just as real as them.
Then you will realize that real love isn't just euphoric or spontaneous, it's a deliberate choice. A plan to love each other for better or worse.
You don't choose who you are attracted to, but you definitely choose who you fall in love with and who you stay in love with.
Real love is like the sun and the moon - it's constant, sure and true. Whenever we feel lost and confused, we can find strength in the love that we have chosen.
Besides, life already offers us plenty of hardships: rejection, job loss, heartache, disappointment, despair, illness, and a host of other problems. We simply can’t abandon ship every time we encounter a storm in our relationships. Real love is about weathering the storms of life together.
